Iranian Outspoken President
Ahmadinejad Declares His Nation Ready
To Help Resolve Disputes Among African
Nations
July 9, 2008
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
said on Wednesday that Iran is ready to help resolve disputes in
African continent.
According to the Presidential office, President Ahmadinejad made
the remark in a meeting with his Senegalese counterpart Maitre
Abdoulaye Wade on Wednesday.
Iran sees no limit on transfer of its experiences and
achievements in various fields mainly in oil, petrochemical and
energy industry to all Muslim nations and Senegal in particular.
Referring to ample opportunities existing in Islamic countries
grouped in the organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), he
lauded the endeavor of the Senegalese president and rotating
chairman of the OIC for his role in resolving regional issues
particularly those pertaining to world Muslims.
He expressed the hope that brotherly ties between Iran and
Senegal would further be deepened.
The Senegalese president, for his part, outlined the latest
developments in the region along with issues pertaining to the
Muslim world and thanked Iran for its all-out support for
African countries particularly friendly and Muslim states.
The Senegalese president also thanked Iran for implementing big
economic programs in his country in areas of petrochemical, oil
refinery as and auto production.
Unfair international system no more effective
The current unfair system prevailing international relations has
completely lost its effectiveness and failed to settle existing
challenges, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran said here on
Tuesday.
In his address to the opening session of the sixth Summit of the
Eight Islamic Developing Countries (D-8), he regretted that the
current international relations system has not been successful
in promoting global peace and security.
In many cases, this system is the main cause of crises, the
Iranian president said.
As a clear sign of ineffectiveness of the existing system
governing the international relations, he referred to the
critical status of innocent people, particularly women and
children, in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and many
other world countries, as well as proliferation of weapons of
mass destruction, expansion of military bases, blatant violation
of human rights and setting up of several secret prisons.
It is crystal clear that the current international economic
system has "reached a deadlock", the Iranian president
reiterated.
He argued that the current food and energy crises as well as
dollar devaluation and the fall of countries' foreign exchange
deposits and increasing poverty worldwide were open examples of
the failure of the current international economic system.
The theme of the ongoing D-8 summit is 'Meeting Challenges
Through Innovative Cooperation'.

peaceful activities to the world."
He voiced Tehran's readiness to help the grouping in different
economic, financial, environmental, tourism and energy fields.
President Ahmadinejad also expressed Iran's support for drafting
a 10-year vision plan for the D-8 as well as strengthening its
Secretariat.
The Iranian president then suggested establishment of an
institution by the D-8 member states in order to make use of
their potentials for generating energy.
President Ahmadinejad also called on D-8 member states to
cooperate in the field of Islamic banking to help sustainable
growth of the Muslim developing states.
President urges planning for a future without
bullying powers
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on the Eight Islamic
Developing Countries (D-8) on tuesday to plan for a future
without bullying powers.
He made the remarks in his address to the opening session of the
group's sixth Summit.
The D-8 -- comprising Iran, Indonesia, Egypt, Malaysia, Turkey,
Pakistan, Nigeria and Bangladesh -- represent about one billion
people, or 14 percent of the world's population.
The theme of the sixth Summit is 'Meeting Challenges Through
Innovative Cooperation'.
"With comprehensive cooperation and consultation, the D-8 can
formulate a road map to overcome crises it is facing," said the
Iranian president.
He urged the member states to take great steps towards justice
and brotherhood based on their common principles.
President Ahmadinejad also urged the D-8 to play a more
constructive and effective role in settlement of regional and
international problems.
He added that close and comprehensive cooperation of the D-8
states, particularly in the area of economy, would play a key
role in stabilizing economies of the Islamic developing
countries and in reducing unexpected shocks resulted from
international economic and monetary crises.
