‘Indian State Terrorism Cannot Sabotage Kashmiris’ Struggle’

Kashmiri News Updates

16 March 2009

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has said that India will not succeed to sabotage Kashmiris’ liberation struggle by stepping up state terrorism in occupied Kashmir.

Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued here strongly condemned the raids conducted by Indian police and troops on the house of the party chief organiser, Altaf Ahmed Khan and harassment of the inmates. He urged India to adopt a realistic approach and take steps towards resolving the Kashmir dispute to ensure peace and stability in South Asia.

Farooq Rehmani also appealed the international community to help stop the human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in the occupied territory. »

Kashmiris to continue peaceful struggle

The speakers at a seminar, today, reiterated Kashmiris’ resolve to continue their peaceful struggle for right to self-determination, despite Indian state terrorism. The seminar was held in the premises of Sadar Court and was addressed among others by the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mian Abdul Qayoom, Zafar Ahmed Shah and Ghulam Nabi Shaheen. They expressed confidence that the people of Kashmir would remain united to frustrate Indian designs of sabotaging Kashmiris’ liberation movement.

Indian troops, in their fresh acts of state terrorism, martyred five innocent Kashmiri youth, today. Three of them were shot dead in a mosque at Saraan Takra in Kishtwar district, today and two in Northern Kashmir. At least fifteen persons were injured when Indian troops resorted to brute force to disperse anti-India and pro-liberation demonstrations at Nowhatta and the adjoining areas.

A seminar was organised in Geneva by an NGO, International Educational Development, and the speakers included Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Amjed Yousaf, Dr Karen Parker and Paul Rowen. They urged the international community to help in resolving the Kashmir dispute, which has been endangering peace and security in South Asia for the last sixty-two years. »
