26 May 2009 Damascus — The Islamic countries'
organization has held meeting in the Syrian capital
Damascus and called for the Somali people to halt the
fighting that is continuing parties of Somali country.
The foreign ministers of the Islamic countries who
are member of the organization held their 36 meeting
in Damascus and issued more articles about Somalia,
Pakistan and Yemen and they particularly called for
the Somali population to support the peace deal in
Djibouti and take steps to take advantage helping the
Somali people.
The organization members also denounced the latest
attacks in the Somali capital Mogadishu reiterating
both sides to halt the fighting as soon as possible
urging the Somali people to return the Somalis'
membership of the Islamic organization.
President Calls for the
International Community to Defend Country From
'Enemies'
Somalia's president Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed has
called Monday for the international community and the
Somali people to defend Somalia what he called for
foreigners that invaded Somalia.
"I would like to tell the world and the Somali
people that there are foreigners in the country who
fought in Iraq and Afghanistan and want to make
Somalia like those countries," said president Sheik
Sharif Sheik Ahmed.
The president held a press conference in Villa
Somalia, Somali presidential palace and said
foreigners were fighting along the rebels who are
fighting to topple his fragile government.
President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed has welcomed
what he called for re-liberation efforts in central
Somalia.
The president also welcomed the decision by IGAD
foreign ministers who called for the UN to impose
sanctions on Eritrea and block the airports and the
ports of areas under the control of Islamist rebels.
