12 June 2009
Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front R has expressed satisfaction on the statement of Amnesty International’s Asia Pacific Director, Sam Zarifi in which he had urged the Indian authorities to immediately carry out fair and impartial investigation in the Shopian incident. Spokesman of the JKLF-R in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the government of India should accept the recommendations of the Amnesty International. “We have been demanding that the rape and murder of our two Kashmiri sisters should be carried out by Amnesty International”, he added. The JKLF-R has also welcomed the statement of US Under Secretary of State, William Burns, which he gave after meeting the Indian Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh saying that the aspirations of Kashmiris had to be taken into account while resolving the Kashmir dispute. “This statement by the US Under Secretary is highly commendable as peace will continue to elude South Asia as long as resolution of Kashmir will be kept lingering”, he maintained. The President of JKLF R UK Europe Zone, Raja Mumtaz Rathore and representative of AJK chapter of JKLF-R, Pervez Ahmad Shah also condemned in strong terms the continuous detention of Muhammad Salim Nunnaji, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Musarat Aalam Butt and Nayeem Ahmad Khan. » US asks India to resolve Kashmir dispute Meanwhile, the United States has asked India to resolve the Kashmir dispute keeping in view the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
