Italian Scholar Stresses On Settlement Of Kashmir Dispute: United Kingdom Urged

An Italian scholar of Oriental culture, Professor Emilio Asti has stressed the urgent need to resolve the Kashmir dispute allowing Kashmiri people to decide freely about their destiny. Emilio Asti, addressing a conference in Barcelona, said that for the past 60 years the people of Kashmir were suffering under the brutal military occupation of India. Professor Emilio Asti said that Indian troops were perpetrating gross human rights violations including torturing and killing of innocent people in the occupied territory. He urged international community to make its sincere efforts to resolve the longstanding dispute for the peace not only in South Asia and but also the whole world. Dr Raja Tahir Ashiq, former political Secretary of Azad Jammu and Kashmir President, said that the interest of Kashmiri people should be considered because its important strategic position could play a very important role within the region. Dr Hammad Ahmed Shah, former official in Azad Jammu and Kashmir Government, stressed the importance of restoring peace in Kashmir through allowing people from both sides of Kashmir to meet and be reunified. » United Kingdom Sued To Help Resolve Kashmir Dispute In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has urged the United Kingdom to play its role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with Kashmiris’ aspirations. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq during his meeting in Srinagar, today, with Jesper Phorenpn, the political Secretary in the British Embassy in New Delhi, briefed him about the details of the human rights violations by Indian troops in the occupied territory. He also expressed serious concern over the recent rape and murder of two Kashmiri women by the troops in Shopian. On the other hand, Indian police personnel subjected a protest demonstration organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League to brute force at Regal Chowk in Srinagar, today. A large number of doctors, para-medics and pharmacists took to the streets in Srinagar, Pulwama, Baramulla, Kulgam, Islamabad, Kupwara and other cities and towns of the occupied territory to protest against the rape and murder of two Kashmiri women by the troops in Shopian. Complete shutdown, marked with anti-India demonstrations, continued in Shopian for the 24th consecutive day, today.
