‘Participation Of Kashmiris Imperative In Dispute Resolution’
28 June 2009
In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League has said that the involvement of Kashmiris is imperative to the resolution of Kashmir dispute. The speakers in a seminar in Pulwama ‘Kashmir Imbroglio and its future’ organized to commemorate the martyrdom of the APHC leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz said that he was a committed and dedicated pro-freedom leader whose sacrifice has given a new dimension to the ongoing struggle. They added that Kashmiris were bound to carry the mission of martyrs to its logical conclusion. . The speakers said, “Any amicable settlement to the Kashmir issue could be reached only through a tripartite dialogue involving Pakistan, India and people of Kashmir and any solution found without taking into account the aspirations of Kashmiri people is bound to fail.” They urged India to stop human rights violations, repeal black laws, release political detainees and withdraw its troops from the occupied territory. The speakers also strongly condemned the arrest of pro-freedom leaders and termed the detention of Hurriyet leaders as a tactic to create harassment among the people. The speakers included PL organizer, Pervaiz Ahmad Dar, Ghulam Nabi Waseem, Bashir Ahmad Wani, Ghulam Qadir Rah and Abdul Salam Rajporai. They said India had failed to suppress the voice of Kashmiri people by military might. Meanwhile, Peoples League condemned the arrest of the party Acting Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza along with other members at Pulwama when they were on their way to attend the seminar. »
