Widow Of Martyr Yasmeen Says Her Ultimate Wish Is To See Kashmir Free

In occupied Kashmir, despite having lost her young husband to Indian troops’ bullets, 32-year-old, Yasmeen says that her last wish is to see Kashmir free from Indian bondage. Yasmeen is the widow of Feroz Ahmed Rah, who was martyred on June 23 last year at Nowhatta when Indian Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) personnel opened fire on a peaceful demonstrators, protesting against land transfer of Kashmiris’ land to Amarnath Shrine Board. She is now the sole caretaker of her three children, mother-in-law and a handicapped sister-in-law. Despite the difficulties the family is facing, Yasmeen is determined to fight. “His absence will always be felt in our lives. But we cannot lose hope. I am now searching for a job to ensure my children lead better lives,” she told media men. Reminiscing that fateful day, Feroz’s friend Shafaat, said that Feroz was returning home when CRPF shot him amidst a protest. “The uprising triggered by Feroz’s death has not died down till this day,” he added. Recollecting the memories of his father, 13-year-old Mudasir said, “My father left home in the morning, never to return. After his death, my elder brother and I have missed a lot on studies, as we have to attend to the household responsibilities. He laid down his life for Azadi (Freedom) and I will take up his cause.” » Kashmiris To Continue Liberation Struggle: Masarat Alam In occupied Kashmir, the illegally detained Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, Masarat Alam Butt has said that the Kashmiris will continue their struggle for securing their freedom from Indian bondage. Masarat Alam Butt in a statement from Rajouri Jail, said, “Those who want peaceful South Asia should immediately urge India for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspiration of Kashmiris.” Stating that the people of the occupied territory could no longer be deceived by the hollow statements in favour of dialogue, he said, “No one can trade the sacrifices of the masses and the chains of slavery will have to end one day.” Meanwhile, a delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) visited Shopian and paid tributes to the two women who were raped and murdered by Indian troops in the area. The JKPL statement termed the Shopian incident as the most barbaric and cowardly act of the troops and demanded an impartial and transparent probe into the matter through independent human rights organizations. The statement maintained that the people of occupied Kashmir were braving the situation since last six decades under constant subjugation and suppression. The delegation was headed by Chief Organiser, Pervaiz Ahmad Dar and included Ghulam Nabi Waseem, Shakeel-ur Rehman, Ghulam Mohiudin Shah and Javed Ahmad. »
