Hamas Represents Big Portion Of Palestinian People: CIA Says Israel Will Fall In 20 Years
30 June 2009
Hamas's readiness to open dialog with the American administration without any pre-conditions is based on its representation of a big portion of the Palestinian people, Ismail Radwan, the prominent Hamas political leader, said. Radwan, speaking to Al-Alem TV network on Friday, said that Hamas won the majority of votes in the parliamentary elections and thus it represented the majority of Palestinians. Commenting on the speech of Khaled Mishaal, the supreme leader of Hamas, Radwan said that Mishaal showed in his speech that he is a leader of the Palestinian people and not only a faction. He pointed to Mishaal's statement that he put the recognition of the Palestinian people's rights ahead of the recognition of Hamas. He noted that American president Barack Obama's message to Hamas was positive, which prompted a positive response. The Hamas leader, however, stressed that any dialog should not be based on conditions imposed by the international quartet committee or on surrendering resistance and the Palestinian people's resistance. He added that any dialog should be for the sake of the Palestinian people's interest and not for the sake of recognizing Israel. Radwan underlined that the Palestinians are not hinging high hopes on the American administration or the Europeans, adding that they only have confidence in their resistance, national unity and support of the Arab and Islamic world. He ruled out any big change in the American policy toward the Palestinians in the light of the Zionist lobby's influence on decision-makers in the USA. The Hamas leader said that his Movement does not claim to be the sole representative of the Palestinian people but emphasizes that it represents a big part of it. Osama Hamdan, for his part, said that Mishaal's speech provided a positive opportunity for dealing with Obama's administration in the event the latter's positive language turned into positive deeds in favor of the Palestine cause. He told the PIC on Friday that Mishaal also affirmed that priority at present was for reaching national reconciliation to counter attempts to foil that dialog or to doubt its feasibility.
CIA report: 'Israel' will fall in 20 years
A study conducted by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has cast doubt over "Israel"s survival beyond the next 20 years, according to a Press TV report.
International lawyer Franklin Lamb said the CIA report predicts an inevitable move towards a one-state solution from the two-state one - an effort spearheaded by Washington and the West to see the Palestinians and "Israeli" settlers coexist in the occupied territories.
The report forecasts the return of all Palestinian refugees to the occupied territories, and the exodus of two million "Israelis" - who would move to the US in the next fifteen years.
"There is over 500,000 Israelis with American passports and more than 300,000 living in the area of just California," Lamb said in an interview with Press TV on Friday, adding that those who do not have American or western passport, have already applied for them.
"So I think the handwriting at least among the public in Israel is on the wall...[which] suggests history will reject the colonial enterprise sooner or later," Lamb stressed.
He said CIA, in its report, alludes to the unexpectedly quick fall of the apartheid government in South Africa and recalls the disintegration of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s, suggesting the end to the dream of an "Israeli land" would happen "way sooner" than later.
The study further predicts the return of over one and a half million "Israelis" to Russia and other parts of Europe, and denotes a decline in Israeli births whereas a rise in the Palestinian population.
Lamb said given the Israeli conduct toward the Palestinians and the Gaza strip in particular, the American public - which has been voicing its protest against Tel Aviv's measures in the last 25 years - may ‘not take it anymore'.
Some members of the US Senate Intelligence Committee have been informed of the report.
Tel Aviv has not reacted so far to this publication.
