Missing Kashmiri Youth Recovered In Critical Condition
5 July 2009
In occupied Kashmir, the 16 years old youth, Basharat Ahmad of Larkipora, Islamabad who went missing inside an army camp on June 28, was found in critical condition from a forest in Jaibal area of Dooru. Shaukat Ahmad, the brother of Basharat Ahmad, told media men that they received a call on Saturday at around 10:00pm that Basharat was found and lying in the house of one Fatah Dar. “When we reached there, we learnt that he had dragged himself to the door of Fatah Dar’s house. The troops had tied his hands and legs with rope. People had found that foam was coming out of his mouth, as he had been forced to drink alcohol and probably poison,” Shoukat said. He said that the locals had spotted the gypsies of 36-Rashtriya Rifles, the battalion in whose camp Basharat went missing on last Sunday, passing in the area around the time he was found. He was shifted to District Hospital, Islamabad. His disappearance had triggered massive protests all across occupied Kashmir. Dozens of protesters were wounded and several others arrested in the Islamabad town, Dooru, and Dialgam areas during the past six days. » BAN KI-MOON urged to help resolve Kashmir dispute Meanwhile, in a separate development in occupied Kashmir, the APHC leader and Patron of Mahaz-e-Azadi, Muhammad Azam Inqallabi has called upon the Secretary General of United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon to help resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with resolutions of the UN Security Council and aspirations of Kashmir people. Muhammad Azam Inqilabi in an open letter addressed to Ban ki-Moon said that unresolved political issues of Kashmir and Palestine should no more be equivocated and obfuscated through quixotic political gimmicks of the authorities masquerading as democrats. He said, “The egregious situation of Kashmir where stew and brew of inveterate rancour and acrimony is palpable seeks attention of the world body UNO. Think about the plight of the beleaguered and besieged vale and dale of Kashmir where men in uniform are on the prowl to raven after the booty of the people who are lynched, maimed and mutilated for no fault of theirs except that they are asserting in a peaceful way for their inalienable right to self-determination.” “Passivity and indolence of the World Body is no answer to the deteriorating situation of occupied Kashmir where mayhem, carnage, homicide, desecration of the symbols of chastity and honour is order of the day. Shopian town is still restive; it is groaning with the agony perpetrated by the relentless forces of onslaught. On July 2, 2009 a 19 years old boy was tortured and finally killed by soldiers brandishing bayonets. In Baramulla four freedom activists of political outfits were eliminated”, he added. The APHC leader urged the UN Secretary General to play his role in resolving the Kashmir dispute so that permanent peace could be established in South Asia. »
