Unresolved Kashmir Hurdle In Pakistan-India Relations: Seminar

In occupied Kashmir, the speakers at a seminar held under the auspices of Jammu Kashmir Peoples Movement, a constituent of APHC, at Rajauri maintained that the people of Kashmir were facing worst kind of Indian state terrorism due to non-settlement of the Kashmir dispute. The speakers told the participants of the seminar that unresolved Kashmir dispute was the main impediment in the cordial relations between the two nuclear neighbouring countries. They called upon the Indian government to give up its rigid stance on Kashmir and come to the negotiation table to amicably settle the dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir. The speakers also stressed the inclusion of genuine Kashmiri leadership in the parleys. The message of JKPM leader, Ghulam Ahmad Mir was also read out in the seminar. Ghulam Ahmad Mir, while paying homage to the July 13 martyrs, said that the blood of martyrs would not go waste but would definitely bring positive results. He said that it was result of Kashmiri martyrs that today the Kashmir dispute had been discussed in international forums and the world community had taken keen interest in its solution. Condemning the tragedies of Shopian and Kupwara, Ghulam Ahmad Mir said that the complete withdrawal of Indian troops from occupied Kashmir could normalise the situation and pave the way for solution of Kashmir dispute. On the other hand, the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq remained under house arrest for third consecutive day, today. The occupation authorities also put Farida Behanji under house arrest at her residence. The puppet administration has also started arrest of Hurriyet leaders and activists by conducting raids on their houses to prevent them from participating in Lal Chowk march. » Mirwaiz flays restrictions on Juma congregations Meanwhile, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has lamented the occupation authorities for imposing restrictions on Juma congregations describing it to prevent people from hearing pro-freedom leaders. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who is under house arrest, in a statement issued in Srinagar, urged the people to rise against the repression. He said that the restrictions were an intrusion into our religion. “It is time for all Kashmiris to rise against the power centric political parties. People need to understand the policy of the puppet administration and counter it,” he added. Flaying the authorities for using Indian agencies to keep Muslims away from congregational prayers, he maintained that the Indian Police and Central Reseved Police Force (CRPF) were deployed in huge numbers in every district of the Valley on Fridays to restrict people within their houses. Condemning the recent incidents of violence against women in the Valley, he said, “The administration has failed to punish culprits in twin Shopian rape and murder case and it has been followed by a similar incident in Kupwara.” He expressed grief over the murder of Asrar Mushtaq and demanded exemplary punishment to the murderers. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq reiterated his Lal Chowk Chalo call and urged the people to participate in the rally.“ People should make success the July 13 rally to show the world Kashmiris’ resolve to achieve right of self determination,” he added. He said the ambassadors of all countries stationed in Delhi and international media have been invited to participate in the Lal Chowk Chalo rally. »
