India Policy Based On Coercion In Occupied Kashmir Is Bound To Fail
3 August 2009
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front-R (JKLF-R), Farooq Siddiqi has said that India’s erroneous and unrepresentative policy based on coercion and human right abuse in occupied Kashmir is bound to fail. Farooq Siddiqi, while addressing the convening committee of the party in Srinagar over phone on the occasion of release of its Chief Organiser, Farooq Ahmed Dar after over 10-month illegal detention, said that spending almost every second day of his life in prison for a total of 18 years reflected the exemplary dedication to the liberation struggle. He said that it should serve an eye opener for Indian government that no amount of coercion and suppression would dent the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle. He said that Indian politicians and leaders needed to re-evaluate their policy regarding Kashmir and re-orient their relationship with Pakistan if they were serious about alleviating the poverty of millions of people who live below poverty line in India. The JKLF–R Chairman said that it was beyond comprehension that after 62 years India had larger population who face malnutrition and hunger than African countries as reported by United Nations and Navdanya Trust that had concluded that India was emerging as the world centre of hunger and malnutrition. “It is meaningless for countries to indulge their resources in managing an occupation when they face an ominous enemy in the manifestation of poverty, hunger and deprivation of majority of people”, he added. Farooq Siddiqi said that the rigid attitude of India in resolving the Kashmir dispute had also rendered SAARC into an ineffective consortium that had not moved beyond the cultural exchanges, thereby retarding the growth of more than one billion people stretching from Bangladesh to Afghanistan. “Such policy is bound to chip away and derogate the social standards of civility that nations must possess in order to be reckoned with as responsible nation or a country,” he maintained. » Indian troops martyr 36 innocent Kashmiris in July Indian troops, in their continued acts of state terrorism, martyred 36 innocent Kashmiris including 3 children and one woman in the last month of July.
