Kashmiris To Determined Not To Discontinue Martyrdom Mission
9 August 2009
In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has reiterated that Kashmiri martyrs’ mission will be taken to its logical conclusion, despite all odds. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was paying rich tributes to the prominent martyred Hurriyet leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz while addressing a gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today. He appealed the people to observe complete strike on August 11 and massively participate in the programmes announced by the APHC to commemorate the first martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz. He maintained that peace would continue to elude South Asia as long as Kashmir dispute was not resolved in accordance with Kashmiris’ aspirations. The forum patronised by senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement in Srinagar announced to support the strike call given by the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Forceful protest demonstrations were held in Srinagar, Islamabad, Shopian, Baramulla, Sopore and other cities and towns of the occupied territory against the illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders including, Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and Masarat Alam Butt. The demonstrators raised high-pitched anti-India and pro-liberation slogans. Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred an innocent civilian at Deed Mangli in Mahore area of Reasi. A trooper was killed in an attack at Baktoor in Gurez. » Pakistan, India urged to resolve Kashmir through dialogue Meanwhile, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has urged Pakistan and India to shun differences and start negotiations to resolve the Kashmir dispute. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressing a public gathering in Srinagar, said that peace between both the countries was a must for the resolution of the dispute. He said that the APHC was ready to act as a bridge between both the countries. “We are ready to render all possible support to both the nations,” he stated. Lashing out at the puppet authorities for detaining Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani and Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Mirwaiz said that their detention was unjust and inhuman. “Health of pro-liberation leaders and activists is deteriorating in jails. The puppet authorities are even denying medical facilities to them,” he maintained. Stating that the detentions under Public Safety Act and other laws could not muzzle the voice of Kashmiris, the APHC Chairman said that the occupation authorities were following these practices for the past 62 years but they had miserably failed to deter the resolve of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to continue their struggle for right to self-determination. Paying rich tributes to APHC leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz and other martyrs of last year’s mass uprising, Mirwaiz said that they sacrificed their lives for a cause and their mission would be taken to its logical end despite all odds. He appealed the people to observe complete shutdown on August 11, the first martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz. »
